Overview
Prototype a single or multi-style typeface.
With the recent advent of vaults, drawers, seeds, and other buckets to hold unfinished fonts, it’s becoming the norm for designers to offer prototypes as viable products to pitch to prospective clients or foundries.
Join Troy and five other participants to develop a single or multi-style typeface prototype. Bring your sketches or a project you’ve started, and we’ll work together to scope out a family and develop a prototype ready to expand into a full-blown family when the time is right.
Start your foundry now with a vault full of type seeds!

Meet Your Coach
Hi there, my name is Troy Leinster, and I’ll be your coach for the Typemasters Type Design 101 program. I’m an Australian typeface designer and founder of Leinster Type, and I currently live in Jersey City, just across the river froNew York City.
Over the last ten years, I’ve studied under many typeface designers around the world, collecting and refining my type design process, which I now share with others like yourself. In 2021, I founded Typemasters.xyz, and have now coached over 500 designers through the process of developing a typeface from concept to release.
From 2014-2021 I worked at the Hoefler&Co Type Foundry and taught typeface design at Cooper Union in New York. I’m a graduate of Type & Media program at KABK in The Hague and the Type@Cooper program at Cooper Union in New York.
I look forward to working with you to develop your very first typeface.
Troy.
